TEFL, and English Literature

I have devoted the greater part of my free time to reading and writing since a young age. I am passion incarnate when it comes to the beauty of language, be it literature, philosophy, or poetry. These days, having exhausted most of the literary canon in English, I find myself extending my theoretical formulations and love to the comparative side of multimedia English studies; film, television, news, art, video games, and so forth, all provide such rich layers of beauty to be explored. This ever-expanding process of the realization of the depth in everything around us is a part of the meaning of life itself, and I want nothing more than to share that wonder with others however I can. Teaching English as a Second Language has given me just such an opportunity. My passion here began when I spent a year abroad in Taiwan as a University exchange student. There I frequented language cafes, did private tutoring, and even helped co-teach a few freshman classes, in addition to the myriad linguistic adventures I'd personally find myself on, engaged with the many friends I made. After graduating with a B.A. in English, I worked as a tutor, online and in person, for three years. Now, I've also received a TEFL certificate. Most of my years of experience tutoring does come in the form of plain English Literature and Language. However, now I find myself with the focus on the cross-cultural pursuit of TEFL because it provides such bursts of desire and motivation. So much more is new, for everyone involved! I am sure that my many years of tutoring my little sisters, friends, fellow students, and the like, can help us all along this path of learning English.

English tutor

I have an excellent education as I majored in English and minored in Social Work for my bachelor’s degree I earned at the University of Texas at Austin. When I was in college, I made sure to take a wide variety of English courses to be able to interpret a wide variety of texts. I took two poetry courses, a world literature course mainly comprised of plays, and a global short story course, to name a few. My upper division GPA upon graduation was 3.75, which I am proud of. I am currently teaching ESL to refugees at a local nonprofit. I have many skills for those new to the English language, including teaching Grammar, Writing, Reading, Listening, and Speaking. I can teach Academic English, Business English, Conversational English, and more. I can help with English literature class coursework with reading comprehension, close reading, and essay writing. I teach middle to college level. Furthermore, I hold a TEFL certificate from the International TEFL Academy (a well-renowned institution). I have taken over 170 hours of instruction when combining my "Teaching Online" and my general "TEFL certification" courses. I have lots of skills teaching grammar at all levels. I have many simple online resources I pull from to craft my lessons for you. I teach as young as young children school to adults.I teach all proficiency levels. I promise to get you where you need to be in a fun, relaxed, and no-pressure environment.

English Language Arts and Teaching English as a New Language Teacher

I am a native English speaker and I have taught English Language Arts in public schools for two years. I have also completed internships, substitute taught, and tutored for an additional three. Overall, I have a lot of experience in teaching others how to speak, read, write, and listen in the English language. I attended the University of South Dakota from 2017-2022 and graduated with honors. During my time at the university, I fell in love with the international student program, and met many students from different countries. This peaked my interest in communicating and learning with others who are not native English speakers. My interest grew into adding a minor in Teaching English as a New Language to my academic plan. I graduated in 2022 with my minor, as well as my major, Secondary Education for English. Presently, I am working in the public schools teaching both English and speech. Although I love my job and my students, I plan to expand my skills to remote teaching and learning. My lessons are fun, engaging, and diverse. I have seen so much growth in my students in their abilities to communicate in their speaking and writing. Through playing games, like telephone and sparkle, to writing essays and participating in debates at the end of the quarter, my students have learned to properly and effectively utilize the English language to the best of their ability.
